The fifth edition of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition will be announced in spring 2023!

Some of you have already realized that we have not announced a new edition of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition this year.
We organize it every two years, but this year we have decided to delay its fifth edition and announce it SPRING 2023.
This does not mean, however, that we are not doing anything!
This year, we've published two books based on the winning projects from the fourth edition:
Co to za kuleczka? (What is this ball?) by Iga Ścibek and Przemysław Ścibek is the project awarded by the first prize of the publishing jury. It is a beautiful story about a fluffy fox Tutek, which captivates a reader with its simplicity, wit and an important message.
Gudu i Gwai (Gudu and Gwai) by Marii-Luisa Uth is based on the project mentioned by the publishing jury. It is a very interesting picture book about overcoming complexes and fears.
An important part of each edition of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition is the post-competition exhibition. The fourth edition is crowned with a large-scale activity exhibition, which presents 42 most interesting projects and invites children to creative play.
And you can see it with your own eyes!
In July, it will be exhibited at the Public Library - Knowledge Center in Bolesławiec, and in August at the Children's Library No. 37 ("Spokoteka") in Warsaw.
More information about the competition and the results of the last edition can be found here.
Come and see TWO post-competition exhibitions!

The 4th edition of the CLAIRVOYANTS competition has come to an end. Time for the post-competition exhibition. And this time there will be more than one!
43 most interesting projects of this edition, together with the works awarded and mentioned by the jury, will form two different exhibitions.
Dwie Siostry Bookshop in Warsaw (Al. 3 Maja 2) turned into a small gallery, where you can take a look at the selected works and drink a delicious coffee.
The second exhibition, formed of 43 large-scale boards, invites young viewers to a creative play. Each work is accompanied with a surprising activity or an interesting question.
The exhibition has just set off on a journey through Mazovian libraries and community centers. In January it is hosted at the Multimedia Library in Warsaw (Tyniecka 40a), in February it can be seen at Mediateka Grodzisk (3 Maja 57, Grodzisk Mazowiecki).
Competition book mentioned in Bolonia!
We are proud to announce that the book based on a project mentioned in the 3rd edition of CLAIRVOYANTS competition, Pion i poziom („Horizontal and Vertical”) by Bartosz Sztybor and illustrated by Łukasz Golędzinowski received a special mention in the Opera Prima category in the BolognaRagazzi Award 2020.
The International Book Fair in Bologna is one of the most important event related to the children’s literature in the world. We are very glad that a book created for the Clairvoyants competition was chosen by an outstanding jury, out of hundreds of publications sent from all over the world.
Verdict of the BolognaRagazzi Award:
„A humorous board book that allows the reader to stretch characters out when they open the page. Pion i Poziom plays on the instability surrounding the basic concepts usually presented very confidently in board books, because in reality: things can be both horizontal and vertical. The book is interactive and playful and forces the reader to rotate the book in order to see more, for as in life so in this book: perspective is everything.”

Masterclass workshops with the jurors
It has been a while since we announced the results of the fourth edition of the Clairvoyants competition, but it does not mean that the whole project is finished! Last week the authors of the awarded and mentioned works had the possibility to meet with jurors of the competition during online MASTERCALSS WORKSHOPS.
The laureates met with the jurors of the competition - famous authors, illustrators and editors. The young artists had the opportunity to discuss in small groups their competition projects, show their other works, and ask for advices, inspirations and tips. The meetings were very inspiring, full of words of support, constructive comments and discussions on what can still be improved.
Thank you to the jurors and laureates for their participation!
Results of the 4th edition of the international competition for the illustrated children's book project CLAIRVOYANTS
Recently, we all had to face unusual situations and adapt to the new conditions. And so did the formula of the Clairvoyants competition. This year the projects were submitted digitally, and the jury met and deliberated remotely. Whether it was due to those new methods, or to the greater amount of time spent at home that stimulated creativity, or simply as a result of the competition's increasing recognition, this year we received a record number of entries - 1063 projects from 76 countries! For the first time, the number of foreign projectsexceeded the number of applications from the Polish artists.

We are happy to announce the fourth edition of the international competition for an illustrated children's book project CLAIRVOYANTS!
The children's books world is intriguing and inexhaustible and there is still a lot to discover. In our publishing house we always support artists and authors that pay special attention to the quality of children’s books, both in terms of their content and form. Therefore, once again we invite authors, illustrators, graphic designers and all book lovers from Poland and abroad to participate in the international competition for an illustrated children's book project Clairvoyants!
Due to the ongoing epidemic situation, 2020 edition will be a bit different than the editions organized in the past. We slightly changed the rules of submitting the projects and the organization of the jury session, and we have prepared a special surprise for the winners!
This is already the fourth edition of the contest. Over 1,500 entries from all over the world were submitted to the three previous editions! More and more books based on the awarded projects can be already found on bookshelves and we have been working with other Clairvoyant participants on the new, upcoming books.
After each edition of the CLAIRVOYANTS, the most captivating entries are compiled to create a post-competition exhibition. Exhibitions from three previous editions have been travelling all over Poland and were exhibited in many schools, libraries and cultural institutions.
What will the fourth – pandemic – edition of CLAIRVOYANTS look like?
We invite debutants and experienced artists from Poland and abroad to participate in the competition, performing individually or as a team. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
The purpose of the competition is to prepare a project (draft) of an illustrated children’s book in Polish or in English language. Submission should include a storyboard or a script of the whole book, together with 3 finished double spreads and a summary in English (obligatory) and in Polish (only if the whole project is in Polish).
The novelty of this edition is that the works should be submitted online only!
Applications must be made by the 15th of December 2020. To enter the competition you have to:
a) fill-in the online application form
and
b) upload the digital files containing the competition project to the online application form or include in the form a direct link to the files, from which the files can be downloaded
We will not accept applications sent by traditional mail. Competition works should only be submitted as digital files.
The application process is described in detail in the FAQ section.
If you are looking for an illustrator or author to create a competition project together, we invite you to the new Facebook group „JASNOWIDZE, łączcie się! / CLAIRVOYANTS, get together!”. You may find your creative team partner there!
The submitted entries will be assessed by two independent juries:
1. The international jury: Jutta Bauer, Romana Romanyszyn, Joanna Olech and Piotr Socha.
2. The Dwie Siostry Publishing jury: Ewa Stiasny, Jadwiga Jędryas, Maciej Byliniak.
Submitted projects will be assessed according to the following criteria: artistic quality, originality, the form which inspires child’s imagination and the content which is aware of the child’s sensitivity. This year the jury sitting will take place in remote mode, via Internet.
